The Blue Bishops are coming off an 11-win season, which is their most wins in a single season since the program was resurrected in 2007. It was also the first time the team finished with a winning dual record over that span.
Senior Luckenson Altidor, the team leader in wins last season with 22, senior Iquann Crawford (19-8), and junior Amando Herrera (20-7), were all a win away from qualifying for Regions in 2023. Seniors Brandon Ramos (18-8) and Ricardo Garcia (17-7) also return, giving the Blue Bishops a strong veteran presence throughout the lineup.
The lower half of the lineup will be an even mix of youth and experience. Along with the aforementioned Altidor, Herrera and Ramos, junior Ahmon Gray and sophomore Matelson Louisius are returning starters that give the Bishops a nice base to break some new faces in the lineup around. Among them are freshmen Dennis Garcia Rosales, Ever Villanueva, Adrian Sanchez, Isaias Villa, and Byron Santiago, the White Division Champ at the Intermediate School level.
Garcia and Crawford anchor the upper half of the lineup, with seniors Dacarri Diaz and Jamesly Cagilus, and junior Elliot Delgado, also on hand to provide upperclass leadership to some of the newcomers looking to break into the lineup. Keep an eye on Cagilus, a 15-bout winner as a sophomore to potentially have a breakout season.
The numbers are as high as they've ever been at Asbury, which is a great sign. With the level of talent they have returning, and some very promising newcomers, the Blue Bishops will look to continue their winning ways and top their program-record win total from a year ago.
