2024 Manasquan Wrestling
Head Coach: Justin Barowski (4th Season / Career: 37-24)
B-North / CJG2 / District 22 / Region 6
Where They Open: 12/15 vs Colts Neck
Opening Tournament: Garden State Classic at Barnegat
After going 14 seasons without a winning dual meet record, Manasquan has been .500 or better in each of head coach Justin Barowski's three years at the helm. With a number of starters back from last year's team, the Warriors are looking to continue the program's winning ways.
Four starters return with 20+ wins, two in the middle, and a pair up top. Projection at 138 & 144 are junior Michael O'Connor, and senior Michael McNulty. O'Connor has put up 56 wins in his first two seasons for Squan, putting him on pace to become the first 100-bout winner in the program's history. McNulty was 3-6 as a sophomore, and put the work in to become a 20-match winner his junior season.
There's a strong upperclassmen presence in the uppwerweights. Seniors Brian Lee and Noah Mammeri, both entering their 3rd year in the starting lineup, give the Warriors a solid 1-2 punch at 195 and 215. Mammeri hit the 30-win mark last season, and finished 3rd in D21, making him Manasquan's first District medalist at heavyweight since Andrew Jennings in 2007. Lee recorded 21 victories, and was 4th at Districts. Both could put up very big years.
Another senior returning up top is Max Salerno. Salerno has had to deal with injuries throughout his career, but has been solid for the Warriors when he has been in the lineup, with a 34-10 record. If he can stay healthy, he's capable of having a big senior season.
Down low, sophomores Nico Princiotta and Donovan Havard will look to build of the experience gained from being in the starting lineup last year. Princiotta won 15 matches last season, and is more than capable of putting up 20+ this season. There will be several newcomers looking to crack the lineup down here as well. Among them are freshmen Shane Kerstetter, Kai Lomas, and Shea Tracey, and sophomore Logan Milancewich.
