Opening Tournament: 12/16 - Ron Mazzola Memorial
With a lot of upperclassmen in the lineup, this will be an older roster for the Raiders. Some of those upperclassmen will be new to the varsity lineup, but there is a good core to break them into the lineup around, especially down low.
The majority of the new starters being inserted into the lineup will be in the upper half of the lineup, where just a pair of starters return in juniors Terrence Thomas and James Lynch. Lynch is the big name here, and projects to be the Raiders' heavyweight this season, where he should be amongst the best in the Shore Conference. He has won 54 matches in the first two seasons of his career, wrestling against mostly juniors and seniors, and has placed 2nd at Districts twice. He advanced to Atlantic City last season after finishing 2nd at the Region 7 Tournament.
The bulk of the returners are in the lower half of the lineup with five seniors back in Jaton Wellington, Tyler Singer, Logan Bucci, Richie Kulessa, and Trevor Grosso. Wellington has 59 career wins to his name, and is a 2-time District medal winner, finishing 2nd in each of the last two seasons. Wellington enters his 4th season in the starting lineup, as does Kulessa, who is coming off a 15-win season in which he placed 3rd at the Districts. Also down low, keep an eye on incoming freshman Ricky DeLorienzo, who placed 5th at Intermediate States last season.
