2025 Freehold Boro Colonials

Head Coach: Ben Ostner (2nd Season / 15-13)
2024 Record: 15-13

A very balanced team with nice mix of senior leaders and a freshmen group with a lot of potential, not to mention terrific numbers with over 65 kids in the room, has the Colonials looking towards having a big year as they look to take another step forward after going from 6 wins in 2023, to winning 15 in 2024.

The balance to the lineup is on display down low as four veteran starters return, and provide a strong base to break in some of the promising members of the freshmen class into the lineup. Senior Josiah Sweeney has won 44 bouts over the last two seasons, and has won a pair of District medals, finishing 3rd as a sophomore, and 2nd last season. He's joined by fellow seniors Xander Bartuk, who took 3rd at Districts, and Sean Murphy, a 16-bout winner last season, and junior Jose Torres.

Returning senior starters John Murphy and Josh Toledo will look to anchor the middleweights, while up top junior Onesimo Nieto leads the charge. Nieto comes off a solid 23-win season in which he picked up some nice wins splitting time at 215 & heavyweight. He has the ability to put together a big year up top for Freehold.

As mentioned, the numbers in the room are very strong, and not just on the boys' side of things as there are over a dozen girls in the room as well. The upperclassmen on this team will be looked upon to provide leadership to this promising young group, while also handling their business on the mat. With the balance and depth they have with the lineup, the Colonials will look to be right in the thick of things in the divisional race with Manalapan, Brick Twp, TR South, and Keansburg, while continuing to keep the program on its upward trajectory.
