Marlboro: Christian Onushkanich finished in 2nd place at 144 pounds to become the first Marlboro freshman to win a District medal since Dan Saraiva and Pete Powell both placed in 2012. Senior Daniel Lacertosa placed 3rd at 215, giving the Mustangs multiple District medlaists for the fifth time in six seasons.

The Mustangs return as experienced a group as they have in quite some time, and have a large freshmen class, giving the program some very strong numbers as they look to compete for a divisional title in the G-Division against Pt Beach, Shore, Barnegat, Freehold Twp, Manchester, and TR North.

The middle part of the lineup could be a real strength for Marlboro. Senior Andrew Silvia led the team in wins last season, registering 26 victories on his way to a 2nd-place finish at the Districts. From an 0-6 start as a freshman, to 26 wins and a District medal as a junior, Silvia has taken tremendous strides during his career, and will be looking for a big run in his final campaign.

Fellow senior Alex Jang joins Silvia in the middle. A 4-year starter, Jang scored 24 wins in 2024 and advanced to the Regions after taking 3rd at Districts. Also back in the middle part of the lineup are a pair of juniors in Artur Avanesyan and Zahyr Evans, who each are coming off double digit win sophomore seasons.

That foursome gives the Mustangs some solid experience in the middle, but keep an eye on freshman Christian Onushkanich, a JSJWL Champ and an Intermediate States qualifier, who will look to contribute.

There is more experience returning in the lower portion of the lineup. Senior Daniel Palagano is a 3-year starter, and senior Nick Guzzone has seen varsity action since his freshman year. Sophomores Mike Collina and Eddie Hall were both in the starting lineup last season, and will be looking to take the next step forward with the year under their belts.

Marlboro is a little less experienced up top, but they do return Tom Fox, who finished 4th at Districts, and can provide some senior leadership to this group.
