Pt Boro: A banner day for the Panthers at this year's Districts as they set program new program highs with six champions, 11 finalists, and 11 medal winners, as Boro rolled to the District 23 Team Title, their sixth overall, first since 2018, and just their second since 1991. Senior Joey DeAngelo, who missed almost the entire regular season with an injury, looked sharp as he won his third District title, making him the seventh wrestler in program history to win three Districts, and it is also DeAngelo's fourth District medal in all. Also winning his fourth District medal was DeAngelo's running mate the last four years, Frankie Burgio. Burgio captured his second title by winning the 132-pound bracket. Also winning his second title was the still undefeated Jake Clayton.

A team stocked with experience and talent, from top to bottom, the Panthers look to be built to have another Top 10 11 season.
Down low, it's the final run for the senior duo of Joey DeAngelo and Frankie Burgio, who have given the Panthers a solid 1-2 punch down low since their freshmen season. DeAngelo enters the season needing just one victory to reach 100 for his career. A 3-time State-qualifier, DeAngelo will be gunning for a spot on the Boardwalk Hall podium this year after finishing just one win short of a State medal in each of the last two seasons. Burgio begins the year with 89 career wins, and like DeAngelo, is a 3-time State-qualifier. The pair provides strong senior leadership down low to a group that includes returning junior starters Mikey DeAngelo, who won 18 matches last season despite wrestling at less than 100%, and West Matta, a 19-match winner in 2024. Keep an eye on freshman Jax Corino, a Cadet State Champion last year, who is looking to make an immediate impact in the lineup.
Up top, Sophomore Jake Clayton is coming off a monster debut season for Boro. After winning the District 24 Title, and placing 2nd at Regions, Clayton finished in 8th-place in Atlantic City to become the Panthers' first State Medalist since 2010, and the first freshman in program history to place at States. He's surrounded by a strong group of upperclassmen that includes seniors Braden Platt and George Walsh, who both medaled at the Districts, and Tanner Hynes and Brayden Clark, who each took 4th.
The Panthers have a battle-tested lineup that looks to have great balance and depth to it. An experienced team like this can get off to a quick, strong start, and continue to roll from there, which will be important as they look to contend for a title in the B-Division against Howell, RBC, Middletown North, and Ocean Twp, and then set themselves up for a strong postseason run, where they should have a lot of guys capable of making noise once we hit the individual postseason.
