2026 TR East Raiders
Head Coach: Mark Grey (1st Season in 2026)
Assistants: Keith Smicklo / Warren Reid / Freddy Pontoriero / Ryan Fischer
Section: SJG4 / Division: D / District: 26 / Region: 7
Mark Gray takes over as head coach for East after Steven Giannios, who guided the Raiders to the SJG4 Finals in his last year, went to take the job at Brick Memorial. The Raiders bring back a lot of talent through the lower half of the lineup and have some very talented incoming freshmen joining the fray.
The big names back are junior Ricky DeLorenzo and sophomore Jayce Cappello. DeLorenzo is coming off a 2025 season in which he went 27-4, and placed 4th in the State at 120, to go along with a District Title, a 3rd-place Region medal, and a 2nd-place medal at the Shore Conference Tournament. Cappello was a 30 match winner as a freshman and advanced to Atlantic City after finishing 2nd at Districts and 3rd at Regions.
Also back down low for East are sophomores Christian Cimino and Ryan McHugh who are each looking to build off their rookie seasons in which they placed 4th at the Districts. That foursome gives the Raiders a nice nucleus to build around down low as they have several freshmen looking to make an immediate impact in the lineup. Among those frosh are Julius Feliciano, who placed 2nd at Intermediate States at 105, and Tristan Lenaghan, who was 4th at Intermediate States at 128.
East lost a couple big pieces at the top of the lineup, but they have a good number of experienced juniors in the upper half returning as they break some new starters into the fold. Among those juniors in the upper half are Kyle Ho, who won 13 matches last season, Kevin Sickler, a District placer in 2024, and Damian Vonderlinden, a 3rd-place finisher at Districts last season.
With just a handful of seniors, this is a relatively young lineup. They have a great core back though, and the freshmen entering the lineup are worth keeping an eye on as the Raiders look for a return trip to the Sectional Finals and bump up a slot to the D-Division.
