There were some rough years for TR North post-Covid, as a program that had won the vaunted A-South division in back-to-back seasons in 2019 & 2020, was having problems filling out a full lineup a couple of seasons ago. The numbers began ticking up last season, and have continued to do so and the Mariners now not only have full lineups, but there is depth to it as well as another young, promising crew enters the program.

It's a very young group from 106-126 with sophomores Fabian Velazquez, Xyron Andrejko and Brody Quattlebaum looking to build off last year's experience, and promising freshmen like Andrew Young, Adrian Ibarra, Jostine Candelario, and Giovanni Carrera looking to make an impact in the lineup.

Team captains Justin Cauldwell, a junior, and senior Dominic Capra lead the charge in the middle. A 27-match winner last season, Cauldwell was a 3rd-place finisher at Districts as a freshman, while Capra is a 4th-year starter looking to cap his career with a strong senior run. The pair is a part of an experienced stretch from 132-165 that has ten wrestlers who wrestled in at least nine varsity matches last year that gives head coach Angel Orellana a lot of lineup flexibility in duals. There are a lot of juniors in this group, including Erick Lopez-Saenz, Jacob Nash, Anthony Barone, Cortland Quinn, Zion Coimin, and John Yannariello, who placed 4th at Districts last year, that are all looking to build off last year's experience.

The upper weights have a pair of starters returning in senior James Mauti, a Region qualifier last season after taking 3rd at Districts, and junior Ben Cloos, looking to take the next step in 2026 after a 13-win sophomore season at heavyweight. There's more youth looking to make an impact in the lineup here as well with freshmen Calvin Bivens and Gabriel Medina both having won County championships at the Intermediate level last season.

After a couple of lean years, North began it's bounce back last season and things look like they are continuing to trend upwards. The room is competitive, the work is being put in, and another good young group of freshmen are in the room giving the roster depth it has lacked the past few years. Look for the Mariners to continue their rise this season as they look to compete for a title in the F-Division.
