South is coming off a 2025 season in which they won the program's first Sectional and Divisional titles since 2013. They lost some key pieces to that team to graduation, especially up top, but they still return a solid group, and are excited to see the newcomers to the room and lineup step up as they try to continue their winning ways.
Down low, sophomores Vinnie Pedalino and Alex Park are coming off solid rookie campaigns, with Pedalino winning 24 matches and placing 3rd at Districts, while Park was 14-6 on the year. Both will be looking for even bigger things with the first year of varsity experience to their credit. Junior Jon Correa enters his third season in the lineup and will also be looking to take that next step forward, while also providing some upperclassman leadership, as will senior Alex Ortiz, who previously wrestled at Lakewood.
Owen Beneciuk leads the charge in the middle. The senior, who is 19 wins away from 100, is a 2-time District medal winner and was one win away from making it to States last season, placing 5th at Regions. Sophomores Cullen Burr and Jake Gallagher are similar to Pedalino and Park in that they will be looking to take the next step after solid freshman seasons. Burr won 16 matches, while Gallagher was a 20-bout winner who had to miss the postseason due to illness. Junior Jeff Hare is another one to keep an eye on here as he has put in the work make a larger contribution this year.
Up top, senior Brett Rankin gives the Indians a hammer up top. Rankin, a District Champ, put up 25 wins last season and advanced to Boardwalk Hall after finishing 3rd at Regions. He's joined by Finn Devrous, who is another candidate to have a breakout year for TRS, and senior heavyweight Austin Reed who is ready to step up with a larger role this season.
