Between graduation, transfer, injury, and a new head coach, it might be safe to say no team has undergone a bigger changeover this season than Brick Memorial. After a successful first season at TR East, where he guided the Raiders to their first Sectional final since 2007, Steven Giannios takes over as head coach for the Stangs, replacing Mike Kiley after a tremendous nine year run. Giannios, nephew of the legendary former Brick Memorial head coach Tony Caravella, inherits a team that will have plenty of new faces in the lineup. 

The most familiar name returning is Michael Napolitano, a 2-time State qualifier and a 3-time District Champion. Along with Hank Mulligan, a 3rd-place finisher at the Districts in 2024, will be looked to provide some senior leadership to what will be an otherwise very young group. 

Junior Jack Marotta, a 3rd-place finisher at Districts last year, and seniors Logan Cromen, who also took 3rd at Districts, and Elvin Corona will also be looked to provide some upperclassmen leadership to the youngsters that will be looking to make an impact in the middle part of the lineup.

With the graduations of 3-time State Champ Harvey Ludington and State medalist Ben Szuba, and Trey Tallmadge not with the team this year as he prepares to continue his terrific career on the gridiron at Sacred Heart, the Stangs will have a very different look up top, but the hope here will be that the group that was behind that threesome last year can step in and make a name for themselves.


As mentioned, there's a lot of turnover from last year's Group 3 finalist team. The Stangs have always had a great feeder system though, and have a very solid freshmen class coming in that includes Jack Mulligan, Brett Alexander, Christopher Delaplain, and Lucas Sei. That group will be looking to be the start of the next chapter in one the Shore's AND state's most storied programs.
