2024 Record: 11-20
A pretty young room with just a few seniors, but there's some solid talent returning, including four District medalists, and a hard working group of freshmen that are putting in the work to make immediate impacts in the lineup.
The Eagles have their most experience returning in the stretch from 144-165, where they have a trio of returning Region qualifiers. Senior Nicolas Straniero is the "elder statesmen" of the group. The senior put up 42 wins since taking a starting slot in his sophomore season. A 4th-place finisher at the Districts that season, Straniero advanced to the Regions last year after finishing as the runner-up at 144 in District 25. Junior Joseph Dunne had a huge turnaround season in 2024. After a 1-12 freshman season, Dunne put in the work and won 17 bouts last year and finished 3rd at the Districts. Sophomore Christian Ardiles put together a solid debut season, hitting 20 wins and also taking 3rd at Districts. Fellow sophomore Cole Siller also returns, and is looking to take the next step with the year of varsity experience under his belt.
Down low, junior Mason Lugo leads the charge. Lugo has 39 wins through his first two seasons, and has placed 3rd at the Districts in each of those seasons. Expect to see some of the freshmen break into the lineup down here, with Max Stierle and Luke Condello among those looking to step in and step up.
There is enthusiasm throughout the room, from the young group looking to make their marks in the lineup, to the veterans showing leadership and putting the work in to get themselves, and the program, to the next level. The new division format gets the Eagles out of A-South and into the E-Division where they look to compete with Manasquan, Middletown South, Red Bank, and TR East for the top spot in the division.
