Where They Open: 12/14 vs Brick Memorial

With just a handful of seniors on the roster, Central will be a fairly young bunch in 2024.

Despite the youthfulness of the roster, the Golden Eagles do return several starters, with a good portion of them down in the lower weight classes. Sophomore Mason Lugo was tied for 2nd on the team in wins last year with 18, and placed 3rd at Districts at 106. Senior Aiden O'Brien, entering his 4th season in the varsity lineup, projects be the 106-pounder and should provide valuable senior leadership to the young group. Juniors Matix Baxter and Michael Hawkes will both be looking to build off the experience gained from last season, giving Central a pretty seasoned group down low.

Junior Nicolas Straniero went from 0-3 as a freshman, to an 18-win season in which he finished 4th at the Districts. He'll be pushing for even bigger things in 2024. Senior Nicholas Condello has 57 varsity matches to his credit, and is another who can provide veteran leadership to the youth in the room.

There will be a lot of new faces in the top of the lineup, so the Eagles will turn to another senior, returning starter Ayden Delaney, to provide the veteran leadership amongst that group.

Overall, it's a young group, but it's a team that expects to have a bit more depth than they've had in recent years. There is some emerging young talent working hard for a chance to see time in the lineup, and the hope here is that the veterans can take them under their wing as the Golden Eagles look to improve with every outing and set themselves up for bigger things down the road.
