NOTES
Top-seeded Ridge has not won a Sectional championship in 38 years. They were Somerset County Tournament Champions, out-pointing 2nd-place Hillsborough by 36 points. Ridge defeated potential 2nd-round opponent Watchung Hills, 54-18, back in December.

#2 North Hunterdon is in their first year under former Bergen Catholic head coach Dave Bell, who led the Crusaders to 11 Sectional Titles. The Lions are 6-11 this season, but have wrestled a very difficult schedule. They lost to Watchung Hills last week in a dual, 38-25.

The #3/#6 matchup between the Middletowns is a rematch of their dual from mid-January which was won by North (54-15). North's senior Brady Klinsky, who recently committed to Rider University, enters the Sectionals with 98 career wins.

CJG5 at Hillsborough
#2 Hillsborough  vs  #7 East Brunswick
#3 Monroe  vs  #6 Edison

NOTES
If there is to be a rematch of last year's classic CJG5 Final, it will have to be in the semifinals with Hunterdon Central seeded #1, while Howell is at #4. The top-seeded Red Devils, who have won 22 Sectional Titles, are 18-2 on the year with key wins coming over Delsea, West Deptford, Mount Olive, and #2 seed Hillsborough. Their losses are to Group 1 favorite Delaware Valley, and Phillipsburg. The Red Devils open with Marlboro, who is making their first Sectional since 2020.

#4 Howell will meet #5 Old Bridge in the opening round. The Rebels topped the Knights (44-18) a couple weeks back, but the Knights recently got State Champion Logan Roman back from injury as they try and close the gap from the previous defeat. Meanwhile, the Rebels will be trying for their 7th Sectional Title, and third consecutive. They have advanced to the Sectional Finals in each of the last ten tournaments, but have a huge hurdle in their way being in the 4-seed with Hunterdon Central lurking in the top of this bracket.

In the other bracket, #2 Hillsborough is 10-8, wrestling a tough schedule with several narrow losses. They wrestled a pair of Top 10 Shore Conference teams this season, losing to Rumson and Middletown North. #3 Monroe defeated Howell (39-36) back on January 13th and opened their season with a 9-point win over Old Bridge. They went undefeated against the Shore Conference this year with the win over Howell, as well as a 2-point win over Jackson Memorial, a 6-point win over Manalapan, and wins against TR South and Freehold Boro. Monroe is coached by Jackson Memorial grad Joe Eurell, while #7 East Brunswick is coached by former Howell Rebel standout, Joey Langel.

NOTES
For the first time, the Cougars are the top-seed in the CJG4 Tournament. If they can get through their half of the bracket on Monday night, they'll be making their first Sectional Finals appearance since 2019. To do so, the Cougars will have to go through #8 Bordentown from the Burlington County Scholastic League, who are 14-7 on the season, in the opening round. The Scotties have faced a pair of Shore Conference foes this season, defeating Marlboro (42-27) and losing to Pt Beach (47-21). If the Cougars are victorious, they will face the winner of #4 Hightstown and #5 Princeton. Hightstown defeated Princeton, 44-24, earlier this season. Hightstown is coming off a weekend that saw some split a pair of duals against Raritan (L 15-55) and Manalapan (W 39-36). Princeton, led by former Matawan head coach Jess Monzo, had one match against a Shore team this season, a (44-16) defeat to Pt Boro two weeks ago.

#2 Brick Memorial is a Shore Conference best 17-time Sectional Champion, and has advanced to the last three CJG4 Finals, winning in 2020 & 2022. Mustang junior Harvey Ludington, a State Champion in 2022 and runner-up in 2023, enters the tournament with 98 career victories. For the 2nd straight year, the Stangs will meet Colonial Valley Conference team, Steinert, in the quarterfinals, who they defeated last year (71-6).

3rd-seeded Manalapan and #6 Jackson Memorial face each other in the quarterfinal round. It is a rematch of last year's CJG4 semifinal match won by Jackson (61-7). The Braves actually lost to #4 Hightstown this past Saturday, but it was after the cutoff date so the Braves hold on to their #3 seed. They are looking to get back to their first final since 2020, when they defeated Hunterdon Central in the CJG5 Final to claim the program's 4th Sectional Title. The Jags are the defending champions. They come into the tournament with their three previous matches having been against Sectional top-seeds: Brick Memorial (#1 CJG4 - L 25-37), Rumson (#1 CJG2 ; L 18-50), and Northern Burlington (#1 SJG4 W 46-24). The Jags have won at least one match in Sectionals in each of the last nine tournaments.

NOTES
Ocean Township is the lone Shore Conference team in the section. The Spartans, led by 3-time State qualifier James Farina, who enters the tournament with 98 career wins, have won 8 Sectional Titles, most for any Monmouth County program. Ocean has not advanced to the finals since 2020, the season of their last Sectional Title. They've dealt with injury issues all season long, but have been adding pieces back over the least few weeks and will hope to be 100% for the Sections. They will open with #6 Somerville, who is 11-5 this season. Somerville went 1-2 against the Shore Conference this season with losses to Wall (27-41) and Middletown North (24-42) and a win over Manalapan (37-35).

The Ocean/Somerville will face the winner of #2 Robbinsville & #7 South Plainfield. Robbinsville, a Sectional Champ in 2010, is 15-6 on the year. The Ravens faced a pair of Shore Conference teams back in December, defeating Wall (36-33) and losing to Manalapan (28-49).  South Plainfield, the defending champion and winners of 12 consecutive Sectional Titles, and 19 overall, took a big hit to graduation, and had a couple of transfers, leading them to a 7-11 regular season, and has opened up the CJG3 Title chase.

Top-seeded Hopewell Valley has never won a Sectional Title, and this may be their best opportunity yet. The 18-2 Bulldogs have an experienced, balanced lineup, home mat advantage, and should be deep enough to get through that top bracket for a return to the Sectional Final.

CJG2 at Raritan
#2 Raritan  vs  #7 Manasquan
#3 Pt Boro  vs  #6 Holmdel

Wrestlers To Watch
Raritan - 106/113: (Jr) Nick Sheldrick (22-7; R5-6th) / 132: (Sr) Aidan Davis (20-10; R5-6th) / 144: (Sr) Zach Reilley (28-2; NJ-5th) / 150: (Jr) Alex Delaurier (26-4; NJ-WB3) / 157: (Sr) Logan Acevedo (22-8; R5-WB1) / 215: (Jr) Jonathan Gazerwitz (23-5; R5-PQ)

NOTES
Top-seeded Rumson has made the finals in two out of the last three seasons, and are a strong favorite to make it three out of four as they chase the program's first Sectional Title. They will open with Delran (6-7), who has some strong individual wrestlers, but probably lacks the overall depth to hang with the Bulldogs.

#4 Wall meets #5 Cinnaminson (13-6) in the top bracket quarterfinal. The two teams met in the quarterfinals last season, with Wall winning (37-36) behind a Dominick Interrante major decision in the final bout. Cinnaminson has a familiar name to Shore Conference fans in their lineup in junior heavyweight Donovan Wilkinson, who started the previous two seasons for Toms River South.

Raritan is the 2-seed, giving coach Rob Nucci one more night in The Launch Pad as the Rockets' head coach. The 2-time defending CJG2 Champs have won their last nine Sectional matches against Shore Conference opponents, and have not lost in Sectionals to anyone besides Delaware Valley or South Plainfield since 2014. The Rockets open with #7 Manasquan, who is making their 2nd Sectional appearance in 3 seasons. It was the Rockets who knocked the Warriors out of the tournament semifinals in that previous appearance.

It's another all-Shore meeting in the 3/6 Quarterfinal match, with #3 Pt Boro, who advanced to last year's CJG2 Final, taking on #6 Holmdel, who was knocked out of last year's tournament by the Panthers. The Panthers are looking to make it back to the finals, and probably wouldn't mind taking out the Rockets, who defeated them in last year's final, along the way. They'll first have to go through a Hornets team looking to get past the first round for the first time since 2018, when they advanced to the finals.

NOTES
#1 seed Delaware Valley has won four consecutive Sectional Titles, and 21 titles overall. They are a huge favorite to win their 22nd title, and the overall Group 1 Title as well. They open with an Asbury Park team making their 2nd Sectional appearance since qualifying for the for the first time in 2022.

Divisional rivals #2 Pt Beach and #7 Shore Regional will meet for the 2nd time this season, with the Gulls winning the first dual (56-16). Beach has advanced to the CJG1 Finals each season since 2014, winning four titles during that run.

#6 Keansburg enters the tournament with 12 dual wins, which is already the 2nd most they've had in a season in the last ten years. They face #3 Metuchen (11-6) in the quarters. Metuchen had just one match against a Shore Conference team this season, falling to Freehold Boro (39-33).

SJG5 at Washington Twp
#2 Washington Twp  vs  #7 Vineland
#3 Kingsway  vs  #6 Rancocas Valley

NOTES
Southern has won the last five SJG5 Sectional titles, and is the favorite to win its sixth in a row. The Rams have not lost a Sectional match since falling to Howell in the SJG5 semis in 2015, and have not lost in the Sectionals to a non-Shore Conference team since 2010 against Washington Twp. The Rams begin their quest for their 17th Sectional Title against #8 Eastern who is 10-9 on the year.

A win over Eastern puts Southern in the semis where they would face the winner of Highland vs Lenape. Highland, who the Rams defeated (61-6) in last year's semifinal, was 1-1 against Shore Conference teams this season, defeating Central (55-12) and losing to RBC (21-45).

Liberty, who won their 4th Division Title this season, enters Sectional Week with 14 wins, which is already their most in a season since 2018. If Liberty can defeat Seneca in their opener, they would likely meet top-seeded Delsea in the semis. Delsea (14-4) has owned SJG3, winning 8 straight titles since joining in 2015. Including their time in SJG2, the Crusaders have won 12 straight Sectionals, and 14 out of 15.

If they defeat Timber Creek, they will face the winner of Ocean City vs Gateway. Those two teams met in mid-January with Ocean City winning (41-26).
