2022 Indians Wrestling

Head Coach
Ron Laycock - 25th Season

South hits the 2022 season with a blend of some proven upperclassmen, and some youngsters that the team is excited about.

Down low, the Indians are led by the junior trio of Cody Cox, Ray Gardner, and Jon Fitzgerald. Gardner is a 2-time Region Qualifier, who should be a very solid presence in the lineup, and will be looking towards a deep postseason run. Fitzgerald has shown some flashes his first two seasons, and could be ready to take it next level this year.  Cox has added some size and could fit in nicely at 113 for South. The team is excited to see what they can get out of sophomore Carson Cheong, who has put in a lot of work during the offseason, as well as freshman Caden Langan, who comes in following a nice run at the youth level.

South is led in the middle by seniors Luke Cox and Andrew Ganun. Cox had a great start to his career, winning 19 bouts as a freshman, and finishing 2nd at Districts to qualify for the Regions his sophomore year. Look for a big year out of him in his final run. Ganun, a 25-bout winner in 2020, should also be primed for a big final season. AJ Truszkowski and Declan Rizzp will be looking to step up for the Indians, and have shown good improvement in the room, while another promising newcomer in freshman Phil Bentivegna looks to contribute in the middle, as well.

South is a little light on experience in the upperweights, so they'll hope the new faces in the lineup will keep improving with each outing. Junior Nico Crudup is the "veteran" of the uppers, as he enters his 3rd season in the starting lineup, and will be gunning for a breakout year. Freshman Donovan Wilkinson is among the newcomers to the upperweights. He's got good size, and the team is looking forward to seeing him in the lineup and developing. Expect to see another freshman, Dylan Luyster get some looks in the lineup, as well.

The Indians look to have a pretty good stretch from 113-165. They have some proven veterans that they'll be looking for big individual postseason runs from, while helping keep the team in the win column in the dual season, and they also have some youngsters with good potential that they're looking forward to developing.
