Shore Stuff

 Howell: 157 District Champs (Last: 2023)  /  Streak: 18 Seasons  /  15 Team Titles (Last: 2023)

Top 4 Seeds
1st: Luke Johnston (106) / Tony Lourido (120) / Xavier Ortega (132) / Giovanni Scafidi (138) / JJ Machnik (150) / Tanner Hodgins (165) / Dane Colfer (215)
3rd: Stephen McGuire (190)
4th: Shane Maghan (113) / Aidan Grant (144)

The Rebels have won 15 District Team Titles, including going back-to-back the last two years, the 5th most in Shore Conference history. Their 157 District Champions is 3rd most all-time in the Shore Conference, and most all-time for a Monmouth County program. Their current streak of 18 seasons with at least one champion is 5th best in the Shore.

Howell leads the field with 7 top seeds, including junior Xavier Ortega, who enters the postseason with 96 career wins, and senior Giovanni Scafidi who are both looking to 3-peat.

The last time the Rebels had multiple freshmen win District Titles was in 2017, when Luke Rada and Shane Reitsma won. They have a good shot here at matching that with top seeds Luke Johnston at 106, who has a pair of wins over #2 seed Thomas Blewett, and Tanner Hodgins, who wrestled up at 175 and 190 for most of the season for the Rebels, but is back down to 165 for the postseason. If the seeds hold, Hodgins could match up against Woodbridge's Tyler Boelhower, who is 28-1 on the year with all of his non-forfeit wins coming via pin in the first two periods.

 Middletown North: 152 District Champs (Last: 2023)  /  Streak: 9 Seasons  /  14 Team Titles (Last: 2019)

Top 4 Seeds
1st: Brady Klinsky (113) / Jacob Portman (126) / Justin Fearon (144) / Matt Castelli (157) / Daniel Benbrook (175)
2nd: Thomas Blewett (106) / Tyler Oden (120) / Michael Dwyer (Hwt)
3rd: Louis Mustillo (165)
4th: Shane Myiow (132) / Connor Brown (138) / Jake Schettino (215)

North's 152 District Champions is 4th most in Shore Conference history, just five behind Howell. While Howell has the most top seeds in the tournament, North has the most Top 4 seeds.

Senior Brady Klinsky is 1 of 5 top-seeded Lions. Klinsky, who enters the postseason with 104 career wins, which has him tied for 11th all-time at North. Klinsky will be going for his 3rd District Title, and if it weren't for the Covid season not having Districts, he might be attempting to match his brother Tyler as a 4-timer.

Among the Lions other four #1 seeds are junior Justin Fearon and senior Matt Castelli, who have each previously advanced to Atlantic City and are searching for their first District Titles.
