Notes: The Lions are sending multiple wrestlers to the Regions for the 18th consecutive season, led by senior Matt Coon, who is making his 3rd appearance. Coon was 2nd-place finisher at 190 last season. This will be the 2nd appearance for Gauthier, who was win shy of a trip to AC last year, and Schuler, who is the first Lion since Vin Ceglie in 2018 & 2019 to advance to the Regions in each of his first two seasons.

Notes: The Hawks will be represented at the Regions for the 6th consecutive season. Their four qualifiers is their 2nd highest amount over that period of time. Mortellite is the first underclassmen to qualify for Regions for the Hawks since Matthew Bryant in 2020

 Returning Placers: Collins (1st-2022, 1st-2021, 1st-2020)  /  Stout (1st-2022)  /  Hochstrasser (3rd-2022)  /  Henrich (1st-2022, 2nd-2021)  /  Velardi (1st-2022, 5th-2021, 4th-2020)  /  O'Boyle (4th-2022)  /  Evangelista (3rd-2022)

Notes: The Rams 54 Region Champions is 2nd all-time in the Shore Conference behind only Brick Memorial. The Rams are once again sending a small village to the tournament, with double digit wrestlers having qualified for the 13th season in a row.

Among the many are senior Conor Collins, who will be attempting to become the first Ram to win 4 Region Titles. (Note: Frank Molinaro was a 4-time champ, but won his first at Middletown North). Cole Velardi, Matt Henrich, and Wyatt Stout will be gunning for their 2nd consecutive titles.

TR East: 36 Champs (Last: 2022)  /  Last Medal Winner: 2022

 Returning Placers: DeLorenzo (6th-2022)

Notes: The Raiders are 7th in the Shore Conference with 36 Region Champions all-time. East will once again be well-represented at the Regions, with multiple qualifiers for the 9th straight season. They have had a medal winner in each of the last 8 seasons.

Predictions

106
#1 (Fr) Jordan Segal (Shawnee)  -  31-5
#2 (Fr) Lazarus Joyce (Camden Catholic  -  10-6
#3 (Sr) Jackson Bauer (Seneca)  -  33-4 (NJ-WB1)
#4 (Jr) Hunter Mullarkey (Rancocas Valley)  -  22-4 (R-6th)

I'm calling this one wide open.
PREDICTION: #5 Anthony Mason (Southern)

113
#1 (Jr) Kurt Wehner (Donovan Catholic)  -  27-4 (NJ-7th)
#2 (So) Luke Sherlock (Shawnee)  -  33-4 (NJ-WB2)
#3 (So) Dom Digiacomo (Camden Catholic)  -  21-8 (NJ-WB3)
#4 (Fr) Attila Vigilante (Southern)  -  21-5

Not an overly top heavy bracket you find in a lot of weights. The top guys are good, but the whole field is pretty solid here.
PREDICTION: Wehner (Donovan Catholic)

120
#1 (So) Dezmond Lenaghan (Donovan Catholic)  -  20-7 (NJ-WB3)
#2 (Fr) Sammy Spaulding (Camden Catholic)  -  27-3
#3 (Sr) Trey Friedman (Lenape)  -  24-4 (NJ-WB1)
#4 (So) Aundre Hill (Paulsboro)  -  21-4 (R-6th)

Lenaghan has the experience of a deep State run under his belt. Spaulding is going to be a star for the Irish. He has a win over Lenaghan's teammate Kurt Wehner, and a 5-0 win over Friedman in the D-27 final.
PREDICTION: Spaulding (Camden Catholic)

126
#1 (Sr) Conor Collins (Southern)  -  29-4 (2x-State Medalist)
#2 (Jr) Jackson Young (Camden Catholic)  -  29-4 (NJ-5th)
#3 (Jr) Logan Sichelstiel (Paulsboro)  -  32-5 (R-5th in 2021)
#4 (Jr) James Caruso (Haddonfield)  -  25-6

As Gorilla Monsoon used to say, "This would be a main event in any arena" There's work to do for both wrestlers, but a Collins/Young matchup would be the third of their postseason careers. Collins took the first two, 6-3 in last year' Region 7 final, and 4-2 in the State wrestlebacks.
PREDICTION: Collins (Southern)

132
#1 (Jr) Chase Bish (Paulsboro)  -  33-4 (NJ-WB1)
#2 (So) Wyatt Stout (Southern)  -  29-7 (NJ-WB1)
#3 (Sr) Aidan Ott (Lacey)  -  24-7
#4 (Fr) Kage Jones (Camden Catholic)  -  25-2

Beware Kage Jones here. I'm tempted to go with another of Camden Catholic's talented frosh, but I'm staying a homer here.
PREDICTION: Stout (Southern)

138
#1 (Sr) Wayne Rold (Camden Catholic)  -  29-5 (NJ-WB2)
#2 (So) Jason Brown (Cherokee)  -  22-9 (NJ-WB2)
#3 (Sr) Alex Hurly (Haddonfield)  -  30-2 (R-PQ)
#4 (Sr) Richard Davis (Donovan Catholic)  -  24-9 (R-PQ)

On Monday morning, the headlines of the Irish Times will read: Wayne's World. Or Rold Gold. Sorry...
PREDICTION: Rold (Camden Catholic)

144
#1 (Jr) Jacob Zearfoss (Gloucester City)  -  38-1 (NJ-6th)
#2 (Sr) Renaldo King (Rancocas Valley)  -  12-2 (NJ-WB2)
#3 (So) Hayden Hochstrasser (Southern)  -  27-8 (NJ-WB2)
#4 (Jr) Matt Gauthier (Lacey)  -  29-2 (R-5th)

Zearfross's only loss this season came in the Hunterdon Central Invitational final to Delran's Drew Roskos up at 150. King missed a month of the season, but has wrestled well since returning, finishing 2nd at the Burlington County Tournament, where his loss was to Roskos up at 150, as well. Hochstrasser defeated Gauthier, 7-0, in the D25 finals.
PREDICTION: Zearfoss (Gloucester City)

150
#1 (Jr) Matt Henrich (Southern)  -  32-3 (NJ-7th)
#2 (Jr) Roman Onorato (Paulsboro)  -  33-5 (NJ-8th)
#3 (Jr) Drew Roskos (Delran)  -  36-2 (NJ-WB2)
#4 (Jr) Jason Chiodi (Gloucester City)  -  28-11

Feels weird saying this, but Henrich looks noticeably improved this season, and he placed 7th in the state last season! This could be the 2nd stage of a magical run.
PREDICTION: Henrich (Southern)

157
#1 (Jr) Austin Craft (Camden Catholic)  -  17-3 (R-5th)
#2 (Sr) Nick Bennet (Southern)  -  25-3
#3 (Sr) Nicholas DeLorenzo (TR East)  -  26-2 (R-6th)
#4 (Jr) Grady Keebler (Moorestown)  -  32-6 (R-WB1)

Craft has twice finished in the Top 6 at Regions, but is still searching for his first trip to AC. Bennet has been an ultimate team guy for the Rams, and is making the most of his first postseason, so far. He defeated DeLorenzo, 8-6, in last week's D25 final.
PREDICTION: Craft (Camden Catholic)

165
#1 (Sr) Cole Velardi (Southern)  -  28-4 (NJ-5th)
#2 (Sr) Luke Theis (Delran)  -  36-1 (R-6th)
#3 (Jr) Kaleb Wright (Gloucester City)  -  36-2 (R-WB1)
#4 (Sr) Doug King (Paulsboro)  -  25-11 (R-PQ)

Theis and Wright have been having huge seasons for their teams, it's just awfully tough to pick against Velardi, who has been a force for the Rams all year long.
PREDICTION: Velardi (Southern)

175
#1 (Sr) Max Borton (Seneca)  -  37-1 (NJ-WB3)
#2 (Sr) Ty Smith (Lenape)  -  22-5
#3 (Jr) John Hangey (Cherokee)  -  25-10
#4 (Sr) Maurice Simple (Cherry Hill East)  -  25-3

Borton is the heavy favorite here, and that's a good thing, because I was getting tired of pick Southern and Camden Catholic guys. Borton has a pair of wins over Smith, including a major and a 9-2 decision in the Burlington County Tournament finals. He also has a pin against Hangey.
PREDICTION: Borton (Seneca)

190
#1 (Jr) Collin French (Southern)  -  24-7 (R-WB1)
#2 (Sr) Matt Coon (Lacey)  -  33-3 (NJ-WB2)
#3 (Sr) Cole DuBois (West Deptford)  -  37-2
#4 (Jr) Sam Meyers (Audobon)  -  31-7 (R-5th)

You always need an upset pick, and a revenge pick. French defeated Coon, 7-5, in the D25 finals. Coon gets revenge.
PREDICTION: Coon (Lacey)

215
#1 (Sr) Riley O'Boyle (Southern)  -  29-5 (NJ-WB4)
#2 (Sr) Jonathan Graham (Highland)  -  25-2 (NJ-WB4)
#3 (So) James Lynch (TR East)  -  25-3 (R-WB1)
#4 (Sr) Cosmo Zaccaro (Central)  -  26-8 (NJ-WB2)

Both O'Boyle and Graham were a win away from medals in AC last year, with O'Boyle at 215, and Graham at heavyweight. The two met in the Sectionals, with O'Boyle winning. 8-1. Lynch jumps into the #3 seed over Zaccaro, a State qualifier last season, on the strength of a pair of decision victories.
PREDICTION: O'Boyle (Southern)

Hwt
#1 (Sr) Anthony Evangelista (Southern)  -  23-8 (NJ-WB3)
#2 (Sr) Scott Lynch (Audobon)  -  33-2 (NJ-WB2)
#3 (Sr) Jackson Harris (Shawnee)  -  29-8 (R-WB1)
#4 (Jr) William Taylor (Highland)  -  34-5 (R-PQ)

Lynch has had a monstruous season for Audobon, and I was tempted to go there with my pick, but Evangelista has just been so tested with the Rams' schedule, it's tough to go against. Plus, I picked against him last week and it was his birthday.
PREDICTION: Evangelista (Southern)
