Head Coach
Eleazar DeLuca - 1st Season

Shay Addison is 26 wins away from 100 career victories
Where They Open
12/18: Robin Leff Tournament at Southern Regional
New head coach Eleazar DeLuca takes over for Bryan Heller, who did a great job in taking a Rumson program with low numbers and a lot of forfeits, and turning them into a Top 10 program in the Shore. DeLuca inherits a team with four postseason participants from last year returning, and a healthy number of underclassmen looking to make an immediate impact in the lineup, as the Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways.
A pair of Region Qualifiers return down low, led by senior Aidan Shaughnessy. Shaughnessy, who enters his 4th season as a starter for Rumson, had his biggest season in 2020, when he advanced to Atlantic City after winning District & Region titles. Also back is sophomore Julian Duque, who qualified for the Regions last year, wrestling at 106 for the Bulldogs. From there, there's a good amount of new faces looking to step up and make instant contributions in the lineup. Among them are the duo of sophomore Alex West, and freshman Walter Skove at 106, who both had good success at the youth level. Also, arriving into the program on the heels of a strong youth career is freshman Evan Ridgway.
The middle stretch from 138-157 looks like it will be comprised mostly of new faces, but the Bulldogs do get back junior Nick Costello, who missed last season after starting as a freshman. We will also probably see junior Murphy McCarty and sophomore Shane Sullivan step up from down low. Among the newcomers, keep an eye on freshman Cole Pangborn, who won multiple State medals at the youth level.
The upperweights are highlighted by the 1-2 punch of senior Shay Addison and sophomore Hudson Skove. Addison is one of a handful of wrestlers in the Shore this season with a good shot at hitting 100 career wins, as he enters his final year with 74 victories. A Region runner-up last season, Addison had a monster sophomore season as he won the Region 5 title and finished 5th at States, while leading the team in wins with 39. Skove was the top upperweight freshman in the Shore last season, placing 2nd at the Regions to advance to the State Tournament at 195. Also returning up top for the Bulldogs is junior Ryan Boyer. Boyer has gotten a few varsity matches in during his first two seasons, and will be looking to step up with an expanded role this season. New faces look to fill the 215 & Hwt slots for the Bulldogs. Among them are freshmen Matthew Smith and Connor Delaney, another State medal winner at the youth level, and senior Patrick Malpass, who was a starting guard on the gridiron for the Rumson.
Rumson has taken tremendous strides over the years. From struggling to put lineups on the mat, to a Top 10 program in the Shore, the current group is looking to keep things rolling despite losing a few top level wrestlers to graduation.
