For Portella, who finished 8th at heavyweight, it is the 2nd medal of his career, making him the third multiple State Medalist in program history.

For Michaels, it makes him the first non-Portella brother to win a medal for the Caseys since Shawn McCord in 2014.

Despite a couple of big losses to graduation, the 2024 Caseys boast what might be as deep and as balanced from top to bottom a lineup as the program has had.

Down low, senior returning starter Noah Michaels, a 2-time District medal winner who advanced to Atlantic City last season after a 3rd place finish at Regions last season, is joined by Michael DiBiase, a transfer from Wall. DiBiase won 61 matches while at Wall, including 35 last season when he won his 2nd District Title and a Region 6 Title. He is a 2-time State Qualifier, and gives RBC a couple big guns in the lower part of the lineup to build around. Junior Michael Milke and sophomore Arthur Torrone both finished 4th at Districts last season, and have put in the offseason work to take big steps in 2023.

The middle of the lineup has more of that depth and balance with junior Robert Connelley, a 3rd place finisher at Districts last season, and seniors Marco Conroy, Anthony DeGaetano, and VJ Muscillo, all whom have been in the starting lineup since their freshmen season. Conroy won 22 matches last season, and won his 2nd District medal. DeGaetano, who started off as an undersized 106-pounder for the Caseys, has battled through some nagging injuries over the year, but has put a lot of work in this offseason to have one big final year in the lineup. Muscillo, a 3-sport athlete, is yet another veteran in a deep middle of the lineup that provides head coach Joe Gallagher with a lot of lineup options.

The upperweights are led by returning starters senior heavyweight Lorenzo Portella and junior Frank Romeo. Portella is 57-7 for his career and is a 2-time District and Region Champion, and was a State medal winner in 2022. Romeo went from 3 wins in 2022, to 31 wins and a District Title and 5th place Region medal last season. A couple standouts from the Caseys State Championship team are rejoining the team after a year away from the program in senior Davin Brewton and junior Jamie Gutridge. Brewton was a 21 bout winner in 2022, and finished 2nd at Districts.

The Caseys have a pretty solid lineup from top to bottom, with a lot of tough newcomers looking to make an impact in the lineup and also providing strong depth that the program has not historically had. A challenging schedule is ahead with the A-Central foes such as St John Vianney, Rumson, Raritan, etc. and non-conference duals with non-public powers such as St Peter's Prep, Don Bosco, DePaul, and St Joe's (Metuchen), that should have the Caseys well tested come February and the postseason runs.
