Junior Jaxon Zalepka punched a ticket to Atlantic City by finishing in 4th-place at 106 pounds in the Region 6 Tournament. It will be the fourth consecutive season in which the Patriots have at least one representative at the State Tournament.

Chris Provow, a Manalapan graduate, is the new head coach for the Patriots, replacing Jesse Heubel, who led the Pats the last six seasons. Provow, previously an assistant for the Patriots, has also served as an assistant under coach John Gagliano at Howell.

Right off the bat, the good news for the Patriots' lineup is that they get senior Ryan Dubnik back after his 2023 season was ended due to injury on opening weekend. Dubnik was 12-3 in the COVID-shortened 2021 year, and was 34-5 as a sophomore, winning a District Title and advancing to AC after finishing 2nd in the Regions. He will be a part off a stretch from 132-157 that looks like it could be a great strength for the team. Joining Dubnik in that stretch is fellow senior Alexander Grant, who enters the year with 61 career wins. Grant was the District 23 Champ at 126 last season, and advanced to Atlantic City after placing 4th at the Regions. That stretch of weights continues with seniors Jack McCormick and Tyler Muranelli, and junior Luke Meehan, a transfer from TR North, who all finished 4th at Districts last season.

There will be a lot of freshmen competing for spots in the starting lineup, as well, including Jaxon Zisor, Brian Aca, and Ramzi Najjar down low, Noah Bracho and Renato Jara in the middle, and Bryan and Haniel Flores up top. 

The Patriots will have plenty of new faces in the lineup down low and up top, and there's a pretty even mix of youth and experience throughout the lineup. They have that strong group in the middle that can really set the tone for the team with their talent and leadership. The season kicks off on opening night with a trip across town to Freehold Boro for what is always a fun rivalry match against the Colonials.
